Winter is i-cumin in

    Ancient Music

    Sing goddamn, damn. Sing goddamn!
    Sing goddamn, damn. Sing goddamn!

    Winter is i-cumin in,
    Lhude sing goddamn!
    Raineth drop and staineth slop
    And how the wind doth ram
    Sing goddamn!

    Skiddth bus and sloppeth us,
    An ague hath my ham
    Freezeth river, turneth liver,
    Damn you, sing goddamn.
    Goddamn, goddamn, tis why I am goddamn,
    So gainst the winter's balm.

    Sing goddamn, sing goddamn, DAMN!

                    —Ezra Pound

It's slushing in the Philadelphia suburbs. Not raining, not snowing, not sleeting, but slushing. Slush is usually something that forms on the ground, from fallen snow, trampled and partly melted, but no, this time it's falling directly from the sky, fully formed, immediately ready to slosh up over your shoe collar and around your foot, or be sprayed all over you by a bus.

Sing goddamn!

ta(beru), ku(u), ku(rau)
meaning: food; to eat
taberu == to eat
shokuzi == meal [Hep: shokuji]
