Hurricane Bill has roared northward past the Eastern Seaboard, leaving eddies of thunderstorms behind, and one of them is passing over my 'burb right now.
The lights flickered. Uh-oh, I thought. They might go out any second. So I found a flashlight to keep with me, and I thought I'd turn all unnecessary lights off, to conserve electricity.
You know, so I'd have some left if the power went off.
I know, it doesn't make any sense. But the thought came to me as if it were a perfectly natural idea. It took only a split second to realize it was absurd.
But why did I think it to begin with?
