  • Mood:

meaning: tiny, obscure, faint, secretive

微か == kasuka == (noun  adjective that takes な) faint, dim, weak, indistinct, hazy, poor, wretched
微笑む == hohoemu== (verb) to smile

Left radical is 'movement along a road'. Right radical is 'hand holding stick/coerce/force'. Originally seems to have meant something like 'force person to move along road in crouched (secretive) position'. Henshall suggests taking the top element of the middle radical as 'mountain' (山), and the bottom element as a variant of 'table', and as a mnemonic: 'Forced to move tiny table up mountain in secret.'
