meaning: young, immature

幼稚 == youchi == (noun, adjective that takes な) infancy, childish, infantile
稚拙 == chisetsu == (noun, adjective that takes な) unskillful, childish

Left radical is 'rice plant'. Right radical is 'bird', acting phonetically to express 'slow'. This character originally seems to have referred to rice that was slow to mature. Henshall suggests as a mnemonic: 'Bird finds immature rice.'
