In other news, despite their big brains, porpoises are actually stupid.

Did anyone not realize this? If they had half the brains that God gave eggplant, porpoises wouldn't keep getting caught in tuna nets. They'd be using their massive profits in gray-market abalone to buy off the Unaligned Caucus at the UN, with the aim of turning world opinion against those territory-grabbing killer whales. And hiring a PR firm to do viral meme spreading to convince the public that porpoise farts are not a significant contributor to global warming. And insisting on Equity scale for their guys at Sea World.

But no, they're too stupid for that.

CensusScope. US Census 2000 data displayed through maps, rankings, and charts. Mmmm, data. Warning: some pages render funny, but usable, under Firefox 1.5.0.4.

TAI

meaning: calm, serene, big, Thai

泰平 == taihei == (noun, adjective that takes な) peace, tranquility
泰西 == taisei == (noun) the Occident, the West

Obscure origin. Bottom radical is 'water' (水). Henshall suggests taking the top radical as 'big' (大) and 'two' (二), and as a mnemonic: 'Two big Thai men sit calmly by water.'
