via douglascohen, who's got an interesting interview with her. She says, among other things, that Baen's is looking for fiction that competes with the reader's beer money. That's a classic Heinlein saying, btw. It reminds the writer of popular fiction that the reader may not care about the writer's [Searching | Agonizing | Poignant] Truths about the Human Condition, but he definitely wants to be entertained. If he isn't, well, the reader can always buy beer instead.
