Noticed that Kelly Link just won two Nebulas.

Holy god. Two. TWO. At once. 2. 二。TWOTWOTWO.

Must be annoying. To have to dust all those Nebulas, I mean. Poor Kelly.

Seriously, though, she richly deserves them. And those were great stories: "The Faery Handbag," and "Magic for Beginners." Both in the Magic for Beginners collection, but the latter is available on-line. Such a fine story. Damn.

The other Neb winner that I've read is the Carol Emshwiller short, "I Live With You." Also deserved it. Wonderfully atmospheric, creepy, and kind of sweet and moving, too.

SUI

otoro(eru)

meaning: weaken, wane

老衰 == rousui == (noun) senility, senile decay
盛衰 ==  seisui == (noun) rise and fall, ups and downs, welfare, vicissitudes

The top elements were originally pictographs of plants; the bottom radical is 'clothing' (衣). It originally meant 'straw raincoat'; it was borrowed for its present meaning. Henshall suggests taking the middle element as a 'hole' (口) that has been 'pierced', and as a mnemonic: 'Clothing weakened after hole pierced.'
