  • Mood:

meaning: cross over, liaise

没交渉== bakkoshou == (noun, adjective that takes な) lack of relation (to), independence of)
交渉 == koushou == (noun) negotiations, discussions, connection

The left radical is a radical form of 'water', here indicating a 'river'. Right radical is 'walk' (歩). Thus, to walk across a river, or ford it. This character came to acquire figurative meanings based on the idea of 'crossing': negotiate,  create a liaison, etc. Henshall suggests as a mnemonic: 'Liaison can involve walking on water.'
