Shop early, or ELSE!

I date the decline of the Republic from when we cased to represent our nation as a nubile Gibson Girl in flowing white garments. With a sword. And heavy metallic eyeshadow.

SHI

mune, uma(i)
meaning: tasty, good, gist

論旨 == ronji == (noun) point of an argument, gist of an argument
本旨 == honji == (noun) main object, principal object, true aim

Bottom radical, now 'sun' (日), is actually a simplification of 'sweet' (甘). Top radical, now identical to the radical meaning 'sitting person', was originally a pictograph of a spoon. A spoonful of sweetness tastes good! 'Gist' is a borrowed meaning. Henshall suggests as a mnemonic: 'Gist is that person thinks it's good to sit in sun.'
