fuda
meaning: tag, bill, note

立て札 == tatefuda == (noun) bulletin board
改札口 == taisatsuguchi == (noun) ticket gate

Left radical is 'tree/wood' (木). Right radical is identical to 'kneeling/praying figure', but was originally a variant of 'odd' (乙), which acts phonetically to express 'slice thinly'. A piece of wood sliced thinly is a 'tag', from which came this character's other current meanings. Henshall suggests as a mnemonic: 'Person prays at tree for money bills.'
