Okay, this cold, now going for seven or eight days, can stop ANY TIME.

First book signing today, 11 to 2, at the Book Point in Lebanon, PA. Hope I survive. "Why, yes, I would *sneeze* be pleased to *cough* sign your book *blow* and infect you with a rhinovirus!"

SAKU

kezu(ru)
meaning: pare, reduce

鼻を削がれる == hana wo sogereru == (expletive) to have one's nose mutilated or cut off
添削 == tensaku == (noun which can take する to act as a verb) correction

Disputed etymology per Henshall. Current meaning may be a borrowing. Right radical is one of the radical forms of 'sword'. Henshall suggests taking the left radical as 'small' (小) and 'flesh' (肉), and and as a mnemonic: 'To cut away small bits of flesh is to pare.'
