I've been a DST skeptic for a while—why, exactly, are we doing this?—but this is the first time I've heard that DST is actually bad for you, and may result in excess deaths. And I think the Stromata guy's point may be valid, that even if DST saved a little electricity fifty years ago, that's doubtful today.
Yet, Congress wants to extend this ridiculous mumpsimus even further, back into March and forward into November. The foolishness is bipartisan, co-sponsored by Democrat Edward Markey of Massachusetts, and Republican Fred Upton of Michigan. A pox on them both.
