Strange Horizons has accepted my story, "Adventures in Dog-Walking in Downtown Philadelphia." Special thanks to matociquala who told me to write it, and to the Nameless Crit Group of the Greater Philadelphia Metropolitan Area for their helpful crits. The story will run in SH sometime in the next six months.

Woo!

P.S. to robotazalea: it has mechanical men in it.

KIN

meaning: tight, compact

緊迫== kinpaku == (noun which can take する to act as a verb) tension, strain
緊密 == kinmitsu ==  (noun, adjective that takes な) rigor, closeness, compactness, tightly knit

Bottom radical is 'thread'.(糸), top radical is a Non-General Use character meaning 'hard', acting phonetically to express 'entwine'. Its left radical is 'staring eye' (臣), its right radical is one of the radical versions of 'hand'. This radical originally meant, 'threads entwined in tight knot'. It is now used in a broader sense. Henshall suggests as a mnemonic: 'Eye stares at hand binding thread tight.'
