KIN

meaning: axe, weight

== kin == (noun) unit of weight, about 600 grams
斤量 == kinryou ==  (noun) weight

Originally a pictograph of an axe with a shaped handle. This character was borrowed to express the kin unit of weight, and a different character is now most commonly used to mean 'axe'. Henshall suggests taking the character as a hacksaw [...why?!?] as a mnemonic: 'Hacksaw-like axe'
