KYOU

ta(meru)
meaning: straighten, falsify

矯激== kyougeki == (noun, adjective that takes な) radical, extreme, eccentric
奇矯 == kikyou ==  (noun) eccentric

Left radical is 'arrow' (矢). Right radical is a Non-General Use character meaning 'tall', depicting a tall structure bent at the tip, i.e, an arch. Here, it means simply 'bent', and the character as whole originally meant 'bent arrow', indicating falsity. It also meant 'arrow in need of straightening', and this led to its other current meaning of 'straighten'. Henshall suggests remembering the right radical by association with '(arched) bridge' (橋), and as a mnemonic: 'Straighten arrow bent like arched bridge.'
