  • Mood:

Sourdough starter, Day 3: Yes! Movement, action, life stirring: the starter is foaming up, twice its original size, and smells like alcohol: it made my nose rumple when I lifted up the Saran Wrap cover and sniffed it. Go, little starter! Make me proud of you.

Writing: now doing 校閲 on the bat riders story, in light of the Unnamed Crit Group's crits. It's good, but going slowly.

meaning: inspection

校閲 == kouetsu == (noun) revision
検閲 == kenetsu == (noun) inspection, examination, censorship

Upper/outer radical is 'gate' (門), here used to mean 'emerge in succession'. Inner radical is a Non-General Use character meaning 'exchange', which acts phonetically to express 'count'. Thus, 'count things emerging in succession'. Henshall suggests taking the inner radical as 'brother' (兄) and 'out' (八), and as a mnemonic: 'Inspect elder brother when he comes out of the gate.'
