su(ru), na(su), tame
meaning: do, purpose

為さる == nasaru == (-aru class verb, honorific/repsectful) to do
人為的 == jiniteki == (な adjective) artificial, unnatural

Originally a pictograph of a hand and an elephant, although how this character came to arrive at its present meaning is unclear. It seems to have meant 'practice'. With 'person' (人) this character becomes (偽), meaning 'imitate'. Henshall suggests remembering it by association with 'bird' (鳥), and as a mnemonic: 'Do practice for purpose of imitating funny bird.'
