otozu(reru), tazu(neru)
meaning: visit, inquire

来訪 == raihou == (noun which takes suru to act as a verb) visit, call
訪客 == houkyaku == (noun) visitor, guest

Left radical is 'words/speak' (言), right radical is 'side/direction' (方), the latter acting phonetically to express 'ask widely'. This character meant, 'ask widely to pursue a line of inquiry'. It still has a minor meaning of 'inquire', but is more likely to mean 'visit'. Henshall suggests as a mnemonic: 'Visit someone to have words on the side.'
