In other news, the reason Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam was not allowed in the US was a spelling error. The story is a little confusing (I can't tell whether the real Youssouf is supposed to be a terrorist or not), but it looks like Yusuf, at least, isn't really considered a threat.

Left radical is 'rice plant'. Right radical was originally a pictograph meaning 'scatter'. This character apparently referred originally to scattering rice grains in planting. Henshall suggests taking the right radical as a 'person' (人) with a pack on his back, and as a mnemonic: 'Person explains, is released and given rice pack.'
