Right bottom radical is 'delicate hairs', right top radical is 'stick in hand/coerce/strike'. Left radical is 'person' (人). The vertical stroke represents another stick. This character originally referred to 'striking' someone with a brush (the 'delicate hairs') as a part of grooming. Henshall suggests and as a mnemonic: 'Person practices to master striking with brush.'
