The top radical is 'roof/house'. The bottom radical is 'strange/unfamiliar' (奇), which also acts phonetically to express 'seek protection'. This character originally meant to seek protection in a stranger's house. Henshall suggests as a mnemonic: 'Draw near to strange house.'
