I stumbled on a new resource for kanji learning on the web: gahoh, "The penmanship of Japanese language movies." Not sure it's that much better than the Taka stroke order pages, and it is definitely higher bandwidth, but it's another interesting resource for the Japanese learner.

|The left radical is 'eye' (目). Right is 'stop and stare', acting phonetically to express 'round'. This character originally meant 'stop and stare with round (i.e., wide) eyes'. Now this character means just 'eye'. Henshall suggests as a mnemonic: 'Stop and stare with wide eyes.'|
