Finally finished the story I was working on, 'Du bist der Lenz'. 5330 words, and I thought when I started it would be about 3000. Eh. I don't seem to be able to write anything less than 5000 words. Revisions tomorrow, and then up on OWW.

meaning: measure, quantity

音量 == onryou == volume (of sound)
少量 or 小量 == shouryou == small dose, small quantity, narrow-mindedness,

Originally a pictograph of a full sack on the ground, came to mean a measure of anything. Henshall suggests taking it as 'village' (里), 'one' (一) and 'day' (日), and as a mnemonic: 'Village gets measured quantity, for one day.'
