If Friday is Date Night # 1... is Thursday Date Night # 0? And Wednesday Date Night # -1?

And is the previous Friday Date Night # -7?

Come to think of it, every Friday is Date Night # 1, which must mean that date nights are calendared like the years of the people in The Left Hand of Darkness, for whom every year is the Year 1.

And why isn't Friday Date Night # 0, anyway? What stupid kind of indexing system starts with 1?

meaning: pasture

牧場 == bokujou == pasture
牧場鳥 == makibatori == meadowlark

Left radical is 'cow' (牛), right radical is 'strike/stick in hand'. The latter is an apparent reference to herding cattle. Poor cattle! Couldn't they have gotten a smart piglet to do it? Henshall suggests as a mnemonic: 'Hand with stick makes cow go into pasture.'
