Left/bottom radical is 'movement', inner radical used to be a radical meaning 'blind'; this character originally indicated 'uncertain movement', i.e., movement beyond the boundary of the known, into terra incognita. The inner radical has since been simplified to 'sword/cut' (刀). Henshall suggests as a mnemonic: 'Movement cuts through boundary.'
