KI
hata
meaning: flag
国旗 == kokki == national flag
校旗 == kouki == school flag

Origin obscure. Left radical is derived from a pictograph of a fluttering flag, but the current radical is now 'side' (方). The right radical is derived from a pictograph of a winnowing device. Henshall suggests taking the top/righ radical as 'person' (人), and as a mnemonic: 'Person at side of winnowing device holds flag.'
