  • Mood:

I'm writing a story about a water sprite who hangs out with the Rat Pack in Vegas in 1958. I'm listening to Sinatra songs from the Capitol era, and drinking martinis, trying to get in the right mood.

Fly me to the moon
And let me play among the stars
Let me see what spring is like
On Jupiter and Mars

Wait a minute, this is supposed to be a European folk myth/1950's American pop culture crossover, what the hell is that giant robot doing here?!?

meaning: complete
完全 == kanzen == perfection
不完全 == fukanzen == incomplete, faulty, defective

Top radical is 'roof/building', bottom is 'origin' (元), the latter acting phonetically to express 'fence/wall'. This character originally meant to build a fence around a building. It is speculative how it came to mean 'complete'. Henshall suggests as a mnemonic:  'Completely original building.'
