RYOKU, ROKU
midori
meaning: green
常緑 == jouryoku == evergreen
緑青 == ryokushou/rokushou == verdigris

Left radical is 'thread' (糸), the right elements depict a 'liquid'(水) falling from a basket. This radical came to mean 'ooze', and in connection with 'metal' (金) meant 'verdigris'. Thus this character meant 'green threads', and now 'green' in general. Henshall suggests taking the right radical as 'strand', and as a mnemonic:  'Watery green liquid oozes in thread-like strands.'
