Overlawyered.com, a site I visit daily for a heaping helping of the latest stupid lawyer tricks, has a funny story up about Torys, a large Toronto law firm which ran a recruitment ad, aimed at soon-to-be law school graduates. The ad featured an array of vermin, with the implication that their law firm wasn't interested in hiring them.
They promptly got flack from defenders of vultures, burbots (a bottom-feeding fish) and dung beetles, complaining that comparing those harmless and ecologically useful creatures to lawyers was slander. 'Whenever I see a dung beetle portrayed negatively in a commercial, I see red,' one biologist huffed.
The burbot, a true bottom-feeder!
