I got an e-mail from Amazon today saying that Laputa is up for pre-order. w00t! And... hey, looky, so are Spirited Away and Kiki's Delivery Service. All on April 15, just in time for.. your tax refund, I guess. There's also some evidence from Disney that April 15 is the real release date, not just a date made-up by Amazon. My pre-order for all three is in. I think I'll pass on Totoro though. Mainly because it's pan & scan format and no Japanese track. I already own the VHS, which isn't that different; my guess is that the Totoro DVD was made from the VHS masters.

HYAKU

meaning: hundred
三百 == sanbyaku == 300, many
百貨店 == hyakkaten == department store
The top stroke is 'one' (一), and the bottom character 'white' (白), used in its original meaning of 'fingernail'. In ancient times, the thumb was used to mean 'hundred'. Henshall suggests as a mnemonic:  'Score one hundred with one white fingernail.'
