meaning: stone, rock
化石 == kaseki == fossil
子石 == koishi == pebble
(Henshall lists this one, but JWP only lists 'Koishi' as a proper name)
Upper left radical is 'cliff', and lower right is a pictograph of a boulder. Henshall suggests as a mnemonic:  'Round stone at base of cliff.' Perhaps 'Square stone at base of cliff' would be better.
