KOU
kanga(eru)
meaning: consider
考案 == kouan == idea
考え事 == kangaegoto == concern
Originally a pictograph showing a bent figure with long hair, symbolizing old age. Bottom radical is 'bending water weed'. Uncertain whether 'consider' is a borrowed meaning, or stems from the wisdom sometimes associated with age. Henshall suggests remembering by association with 'earth' (土), with the slash representing something 'half buried', and as a mnemonic:  'Bent old man considers burial in earth.'
