GORGEOUS mild fall day here in southeastern Pennsylvania.
The Netgear FA310 NIC I got off a guy on eBay arrived. Installed in JIJI, and it works. Good, that's a start. I'm dl'ing the first episode of Tokyo Underground from IRC as I write this. But the bot that was giving the Linksys NIC fits, E-F|Mai-chan, isn't up right now, so I can't try it. That will be the acid test.
Incidentally, the error the Linksys 100TX was throwing was 'DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL', and a bunch of hex addresses, which don't help much. After some net searching, I've found that this seems to be a fairly common error, that can (unfortunately) be due to many different things, from bad RAM chips to an overheating cpu, to badly written drivers. It seems that the Linksys 100TX is known for generating this error. Oh, well. With any luck the FA310 will do better. One has performed perfectly on my main box for the past year.
