American Newtype

NEWTYPE has been said to be planning a US edition for a while, and it looks like it's here. Pretty pricey: US$90 per year, as a 'special promotional offer'. First issue due in October, but they're accepting subscriptions now.

Yeah, I'm subscribing. I mean, it's Newtype.

u(ru), u(reru)
meaning: sell
売店 == baiten == stall
売り物 == urimono == item for sale
Once was a combination of 'buy' (買) and a variant of 'put out' (出), i.e., 'put out for buying'. Henshall suggests taking the top radical as 'samurai' (士) and lower part as 'legs behind a counter', for the mnemonic: 'Samurai stands behind counter selling.'
