HON

meaning: run, bustle

奔走 == honsou == (noun that take する to act as a verb)  running about, efforts, activity
奔放 == honpou == (noun, adjective that takes な) wild, uninhibited, extravagant, rampant

Originally a pictograph of a man running, and three footprints. Henshall suggests taking it as 'big man' (大), three 'tens' (十), and as a mnemonic: 'Thirty big men running and bustling.'
