What's up with this, Verizon? Last year my phone was out for ten days, after a storm (and after all my neighbors' phones had long been fixed). This time, not even a recent storm to blame.
Is this Verizon's way of snooging me in the direction of FIOS?
I have to admit, FIOS would probably be an improvement, not only in speed, but in reliability. Current phone tech, once you get down to the 'last mile' is really steampunk. Last year I spent a hour tramping through the woods behind my house with the phone repair guy looking for the right junction box (or something) in which he could switch loops. What kind of technology can't just be commanded by a guy in a cubicle using telnet? The kind of technology in metal poles in the woods, that have embossed brass plates on them depicting President Garfield.
Anyway, so I'll be on my pre-Alexander Graham Bell desert island for a while. And I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
